He added that the multidisciplinary forces comprising the police, Home Affairs, Zibar Security, Kouga Local Municipality Traffic and Law Enforcement officers painted the area blue through an aggressive crime prevention approach, and left no room for criminal elements to operate.
The following successes were recorded:
- Three suspects were arrested for possession of illicit drugs
- Seven spaza shop owners were fined for contravening the municipal by-laws. The total value of the fines was R15,500.
- Twenty-eight motorists were fined for various traffic offences, with a total value of R37,400
- Ten foreign nationals are facing deportation for contravening the Immigration Act
Nkohli said that a tavern owner was served with a compliance notice for leaving an unregistered manager to run a liquor outlet.
Acting Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Brigadier Asogran Naidoo has praised the officers. “For this operation, we were just displaying our level of readiness with our partners,” she said. “The district will be launching its Safer Festive Season Operations in Graaff-Reinet next week.
