SUN . . . sea . . . canals . . . gravel roads . . . and jam-packed action – the 13th annual St Francis Summer Series will take place from December 16 to 31.

Hosted by St Francis Sport, sporting enthusiasts can look forward to an array of events: swimming, running, cycling and paddling, as well as combinations of these disciplines.

Kicking off the action on December 16 is the Canal Swim from the beach at Quaysyde Restaurant in Sea Glades Drive, St Francis Bay.

The event consists of five categories: bank2bank (children under 12), 500m, 1km, 2km and 3km.

On December 17, the action moves to the Cape St Francis Resort for the 5km and 10km Road Run. Then it is back to the canals on December 18 for the Duathlon – a road run/ swim combinations. Teams or individuals can tackle the 500m swim/ 3km run or the 1km swim/ 3km run.

Trail Runners can enjoy the beauty of the Eskom Conservation Reserve on December 19 as they conquer the 5km or 15km Trail Run. Registration takes place at Duneridge Country House.

New on the calendar is the Triple Challenge, where teams or individuals can take each other on in this swim, run and paddle trio. There are two distances to choose from: the 500m swim, 3km run and 3km paddle or 1km swim, 6km run and 5km paddle.

SUP boards or floating device are welcome.

The Extreme Duathlon – consisting of a 5km trail run and 15km MTB or 10km trail run and 30km MTB – will take place at the St Francis Field on December 23.

This year’s charity event, the 5km Full Moon Run (or walk) will take place at the Cape St Francis Main Beach at 19:00 on December 26. Registration is at 18:00.

The Open Water Swim will splash off between Port St Francis and Granny’s Pool at 16:00 on December 27. Swimmers must pre-re-gister (whatsapp) at 073 825 0835 or 074 603 9311.

The team or individual Pam Golding Quadrathlon (500m swim, 12km cycle, 3km run and 3km paddle) will take place at Quaysyde on December 30, followed by the 15km or 30km MTB Challenge through the Eskom Conservation Reserve on December 31.
