THE number of active COVID-19 cases in the Kouga region has decreased slightly to 24.
According to the latest statistics from the Department of Health, there were nine active cases in Humansdorp as at 12 October, seven in Jeffreys Bay and five in St Francis. The location of the remaining three active cases was still to be confirmed.
The total number of active cases in the Sarah Baartman district stood at 214, with the majority located in Dr Beyers Naude Municipality (73), Blue Crane Route (54) and Koukamma (48).
Kouga Executive Mayor, Horatio Hendricks, encouraged residents to remain cautious and adhere to the COVID-19 precautions so as to avoid a spike in the number of local infections.
“Please continue wearing face masks when in public, maintaining social distancing and practising good hygiene,” he advised. “This is the best way to protect oneself and one’s family from the highly contagious disease.”
