PENSIONERS who own property in Kouga can now apply for an extra rebate on their municipal rates.
Kouga Finance Portfolio Councillor, Brenton Williams, said the additional rebate was part of the payment relief measures approved by the Council to address the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown.
“The rates rebate is available to pensioners with a combined monthly household income of R15 000 and is for an additional R85 000 on the value of their property.
“It is also subject to application. Application forms are available on the municipal website and from the Revenue section at municipal units.”
He said completed forms could be emailed to cvanniekerk@kouga.gov.za or submitted to the Revenue section at the municipal offices in Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, Hankey and St Francis Bay.
“There is no deadline. This will be an ongoing process,” he said. “We would to encourage pensioners who qualify to make use of this opportunity.”
