Due to the rapid rise of COVID-19 infections, the Garden Route part of the Sarah Baartman District has once again
been identified as a COVID-19 hotspot that potentially could unleash the third
wave in the Province.
As part of the countrywide
government awareness campaign on vaccination registration, Government
Communications and Information Systems (GCIS) will launch phase 1 of their province-wide Vaccination Registration Awareness Activation Mobile Truck
roadshow.
The launch will be on 14 June in Tsitsikamma’s Coldstream
area.
The awareness programme is also aimed
at sensitizing the public on the importance of continuous adherence to safety
protocols as the third wave is fast approaching.
The details of the truck
activation in the Sarah Baartman District are as follows:
Residents will be
empowered on how to access and utilise the various platforms of the Electronic
Vaccination Data System (EVDS) to register citizens aged 60 years and above for
COVID-19 vaccination through drama and other exciting stage performances.
Local
leaders will use this platform to encourage residents not to be complacent and to
still adhere to the basic protocols, such as the wearing of masks, social distancing,
washing of hands and sanitizing.
