Police were called to the Dolphin’s Beach in Jeffreys Bay,
where an Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) employee had discovered the
body of a newborn baby hidden inside a rubbish bin this morning, February 17.
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli, at
about 09:00 today, one of the EPWP employees alleged that she was cleaning one
of the rubbish bins in Dolphin Beach, when she discovered the body of a newborn
baby boy stashed in a plastic bag.
“Police opened a case of concealment of birth for further
investigation,” said Nkohli.
The police are appealing to the community to come forward
with information that will assist in the investigation. The information
may be shared with the investigation officer, Detective Sergeant Monwabisi
