THE highly enjoyable and successful JBay Personal Trust Bowls Business League at Jeffreys Bay Bowling Club came to an end on Tuesday, 13 November.
Some 24 local businesses battled it out over seven weeks on Tuesday evenings.
The final winners were Trink, who beat runner-ups Barry van Wyk Transport and Pieterse/ Jan Visser Prokureurs.
The winning team was made up of two youngsters aged 14 and 11 – proving that lawn bowls is not just for old people. Their father played for a different business.
Zayne Bekker has now joined the club as a full member.
“This event was even more successful than the previous events – despite the fickle weather,” says Keith Wakelin from the Jeffreys Bay Bowling Club.
“The weather could be perfect through the week, but as soon as Tuesday arrived, so did overcast conditions, wind and sometimes rain. It was quite uncanny.
“Despite this, the teams battled on and really enjoyed themselves, and many teams were heard to say ‘we will definitely be back for the next one’.”
The majority of the teams who played in the initial league back at the beginning of 2017 are still taking part.
“The Jeffreys Bay Bowling Club would like to thank all the sponsors and participants for making it a great event,” says Wakelin.
