The quick response to a complaint of a shooting led to the arrest of two 18-year-old male suspects in Humansdorp on May 2 and the recovery of a firearm that was reported stolen in Rawsonville, Cape Town in 2014.

According to police spokesperson Captain Marius McCarthy, on May 2 at about 10:45 Humansdorp SAPS received a complaint about a shooting incident at Maak ‘n Las, Humansdorp.

He said that members responded immediately and, on their way, they came across two suspects fleeing the scene.

“A chase ensued on foot into an open yard where members managed to apprehend two suspects and confiscated a firearm found in their possession,” said McCarthy.

He said that the suspects will appear before the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on May 5 on charges of discharging a firearm in a municipal area and unlawful possession of a firearm.
