Lovingly referred to as their Ginger Ninja by his parents, the blue-eyed winner of this year’s Kouga Express Christmas Baby competition is absolutely smitten with the beach.

Seven-month-old Jax Markram, born on May 7 to Heidi Lamprecht and Phillip Markram from Jeffreys Bay, walks away with the honour of gracing the front page of Kouga Express’s last edition for 2020.

“He is a friendly, vocal and energetic baby. His big blue eyes do not miss anything,” Lamprecht said proudly.

The blue-eyed winner of this year’s Kouga Express baby competition is absolutely smitten with the beach. Jax Markram was born on May 7, 2020.

“Saturdays are for early beach walks and Jax loves playing in the sand. On Sunday mornings his dad takes him out, while mom gets a well-deserved sleep in. He loves watching a Netflix cartoon, Booba, and playing with his teething toys.

“With his six sharp new baby teeth, he has one healthy appetite and especially loves yoghurt for dessert,” she added.

“Like his father, Jax is punctual and wants his food and naps when it’s time, otherwise he gets very grumpy and we call him Chucky,” she explained with a laugh.

“Putting on his nappy is a wrestling game so mom can burn calories and end it off with big cuddles, kisses and giggles.”

Lamprecht said that the idea to enter Jax for the competition actually came from his great uncle Juan and aunt Charine whom they were visiting as usual on Sundays in Boskloof, Humansdorp.

“They suggested that we enter Jax. We laughed it off and then they nagged me, until I submitted on the last day. Seeing all the cute, beautiful babies that had already entered, I didn’t expect my Ginger Ninja would even stand a chance,” she said with a smile.

She mentioned that the news of Jax joining the family came as a bit of a shock as his siblings, Milan, Simone and Samantha, are much older than he is.

“I had a lot of support from Jax’s godmother, Cherie Jackson, who kept a watchful eye on my pregnancy progress. He was born slap, bang in the middle of National Lockdown.

“The amazing nurse, Pennie, from [Life] Isivivana Hospital, worked hard to deliver Jax. She was such an amazing, emotional and physical support, seeing that my hubby wasn’t allowed in the hospital as per COVID rules.”

When asked about her baby’s unique name, Lamprecht said that Jax’s father, Phillip Rudolph Markram, chose the name.

“He wanted something simple and strong and Jax Rudolph Markram had a ring to it.”

In order to safely avoid crowds due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jax will be spending his first Christmas at home with his family, Labrador, Lungo and rescue kittens, Dodge and Chevy.

Since he was born into a car-enthusiastic family, it is very likely that Jax will find a gift with wheels on it underneath his Christmas tree.

“We also know that Jax will enjoy the box and gift wrap more than the actual gift,” Lamprecht said with a laugh.
