KOUGA Municipality has launched a Covid-19 fund to assist local families-in-need with food and other essential supplies during the 21-day lockdown period.
Executive Mayor Horatio Hendricks said several initiatives were under way to help vulnerable individuals and households combat the coronavirus.
“A shelter for the homeless is up and running and food parcels are being distributed to families-in-need,” he said.
“We would like to build on the programme and appeal to residents to support the fund by donating food and other lockdown essentials.”
Donations needed include food (perishables or non-perishables welcome), soap, toiletries, blankets or anything else people may need during this time.
Should you have a donation, please send us a whatsapp to 073 414 3124 (whatsapp or SMS only) and the municipality will arrange to pick it up.
Cash donations are also welcome and can be paid into the following account: First National Bank, branch code: 210515, account name: Mayors Intervention, account number: 62 082 103 591, account Type: cheque account, reference: C19 & your surname.
Hendricks said the municipality had secured a cold storage container, so fresh produce was also welcome.
