Cruise the canals in an innovative ‘booze cruise’

SEE, swirl, smell, sip and swallow.

SEE, swirl, smell, sip and swallow.

Cruise the canals of St Francis Bay and enjoy a glass – or two – of wine 20 South Africa’s finest wine producers this March.

The first Wine on Water (WOW) event, a brand-new wine tasting sensation, is set to cruise into St Francis Bay on March 27 and 28. This unique, water-transported wine tasting event will be based at Quaysyde, with wine tastings taking place on the decks of selected private homes on the canals over the two day period.

Water taxis will transport festival-goers to their wine tasting stations.

The hop-on hop-off experience will deliver the basics of any traditional wine tasting event: see, swirl, smell, sip and swallow.

The 20 estates will have 120 of the best South African wines on offer, as well as some exquisite gin and rum tastings in the mix.

The wine estates include Luka Vineyards, Babylonstoren, Stellenbosch Foothills Vineyards, Highlands Road, Leenders (Bezuidenhout Family Wines), Tokara, Mellasat Vineyards and Cederberg.

Wow, organised by St Francis Bay Rotary, will sip off at 12:00 and end at sunset on both days – then a whole new party kicks off at the Quaysyde Restaurant and marquee tent.

There will be delicious, locally produced artisanal food, craft drinks and live music.

With the event, Rotarians hope to uplift sections of the community home to the less fortunate.

Only local businesses, vendors and service providers will be utilised in a bid to make it a community-first-project.

Tickets, at a cost of R475 per person, are available at https://www.quicket.co.za/events/97240-wine-on-water/st-francis-bay.
