District municipality champions child protection at Clarkson Primary outreach

The Sarah Baartman District Municipality hosted a Child Protection Month Outreach at Clarkson Primary School, raising awareness about children’s rights and providing resources.

As part of Child Protection Month, the Sarah Baartman District Municipality (SBDM), in partnership with Government Communication and Information System in the Eastern Cape, hosted a Child Protection Month Outreach at Clarkson Primary School on May 16.

The event focused on raising awareness about the rights of children.

The National Prosecuting Authority spoke to learners about bullying and how to report bullying, while the SAPS also urged the learners to report crime and any instances of child abuse.

Furthermore, the Department of Health shared information on health services offered in the area and how to access these services.

The Speaker of SBDM, Nomhle Gaga, SBDM Portfolio Councillor, Charlene Booysen, and SBDM Executive Mayor, Deon de Vos, along with MPL Virginia Benjamin, MP Nqabisa Gantsho, and Ndlambe Municipality Mayor, Khululwa Ncamiso, handed out sanitary packs to the learners as part of ensuring the dignity of learners.
