Police in Alexandria are seeking the community’s help with investigations into the murder of a double amputee while asleep in his house on Wednesday.

Police in Alexandria are seeking the community’s help with investigations into the murder of a double amputee while asleep in his house on Wednesday.

According to police spokesperson, W/O Majola Nkohli, at approximately 22:30, the victim, a double amputee, was in bed while his son was chatting with two friends in the lounge. 

Three unknown armed men gained entry into the house in Strelitzia Street, Wentzel Park by forcing open the door. The three in the lounge were allegedly held at gunpoint before a suspect headed to the victim’s bedroom.

“It is further alleged that three gunshots were heard, and the three suspects fled the scene on foot,” Nkohli said.

The homeowner, Lungile Irvin Qandana (61) sustained three gunshot wounds to the upper body and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
