THE annual “dry period” at Hankey and Patensie will take place from July 11 to 26 this year.
“The so-called dry period takes place yearly when the Gamtoos Irrigation Board shuts down the irrigation canals for maintenance,” Kouga Infrastructure and Engineering Portfolio Councillor, Bryan Dhludhlu, explained.
“Both towns receive water from the Kouga Dam via the canals, hence, the piped water supply basically shuts down completely over this period.”
He said contingency measures were being finalised to ensure residents have access to water during this time.
