READY, set, go!

The annual First Choice Race – presented by Jeffreys Bay Striders – is set to leave the starting blocks at Victory Christian School (VCS) on Saturday, January 4.

The popular event, now in its 19th year,consists of three distances: 15km race, 6km fun run and a 600m Milki Moo Dash for kids nine years and younger.

The 15km race will take to the street at 06:30.

The entry fee is R70 for licensed athletes and R110 for unlicensed athletes. Eastern Province registered runners aged 65 years and older, only have to pay R40.

The 6km fun run kicks off at 07:00, while the 600m Milki Moo Dash starts at 08:45.

The entry fee is R50 and R20 respectively.

The event is registered with Eastern Province Athletics and is the first race in their athletics calendar. Registered athletes participating in the 15km race, will have the opportunity to earn league points.

There will be jumping castles for the children, as well as various food stalls for young and old.

Entry forms are also available at Compu-Camm Signs in Jeffreys Bay, Sportmans Warehouse in Port Elizabeth. Late entries can be done at VCS from 17:00 to 19:00 on January 3 and from 05:15 to 16:15 on January 4.

The first 200 online entrants will receive a moisture management vest, while the first 1 000 entrants will walk away with a goodie bag.
