THE first-ever Motor Mech Show, hosted by the Motor Industry Workshop Association (MIWA), is a must-attend event with an action-packed line-up that is set to take place at Newton Technical High School on Saturday, March 9.
One of the event organisers, Bridget Finn, said, “We want to raise awareness and excitement about the motor industry. We want junior school children to know there is a career in motor mechanics and to know which schools are available for this career.
“For those in high school, we would like to educate them on what the industry is all about and the options in terms of colleges and workshops that are available.
“We are passionate about this industry, from training to quality parts, to graded workshops and working together to improve skills levels and customer experiences.”
According to MIWA representative, Peter van Mosseveld, all the proceeds from the event will go to Newton Technical High School and will be put to good use developing much-needed skills.
The Motor Mech Show will include various car and motorbike displays, kids’ activities and refreshment stalls. The top student from each of the four technical high schools will be competing against each other for the School Mechanic for 2019 title. Later the top four MIWA mechanics will compete for the title of Motor Mech Master Mechanic for 2019.
“There will also be displays around the school including various MIWA workshops, spare shops, spare manufacturers, colleges, Moto Health and other motor related industries. It’s going to be a great day and we want to encourage everyone to come and support us. Our aim is to get 5 000 people through the gates before we close at 16:00,” said Mosseveld and Finn.
The gates open at 09:00. Entry is R10. All tickets purchased will be entered in lucky draws. For more info contact Peter van Mosseveld at 064 109 6426 or info@motormechshow.co.za.
