FOUR of the ten Covid-19 cases in Kouga have fully recovered since the first positive case for the area was recorded four weeks ago.

Kouga Mayor, Horatio Hendricks, said the four local recoveries included the first case from St Francis, confirmed on March 29, and three from KwaNomzamo in Humansdorp.

“That means Kouga currently has six active cases – five in Humansdorp and then the latest case in Hankey,” he said.

He said the Department of Health would focus their mass screening and testing programme on Hankey this week in response to the town’s first confirmed case.

“They have already started screening in the Gamtoos area but will be intensifying their programme in Hankey.

“The programme in Humansdorp wrapped up early this week and the bulk of their resources will now be focused on Hankey.”

Three of the active cases are in self-quarantine while the remaining three are at a quarantine facility.

All six are doing well, according to the latest information.
