EXCITING times are ahead for St Francis Hospice as they prepare to celebrate a number of events and milestones.
The first event is their summer fete that is set to take place at their premises in Hospice Lane in Taybank on March 2 from 09:30 to 14:30.
As a family fun day, the fete will include books, clothing, raffles, prizes, records, toys, food, drinks, bric-a-brac and CDs up for grabs, as well as games and activities for the children.
Families are urged to bring along picnic blankets to enjoy the day. Entry is free and all proceeds will go toward caring for the more than 250 patients in St Francis Hospice’s care.
The highlight of their year will be the opening of their Vintage Charity Shoppe on April 1. The shop will have clothing, books, paintings and other collectibles on offer.
Following this they will turn their attention to their annual Last Night of the Proms concerts, sponsored by RMB and FNB, to be held on May 18 and 19.
St Francis Hospice provides home-based comprehensive care and support on a daily basis to some 270 patients with life-limiting illnesses, such as cancer, HIV/AIDS and motor neurone disease, and their families.
Anyone interested in supporting their cause can help by supporting their events throughout the year, volunteering, making contributions, providing moral support or beco-ming a Hospice Hero.
St Francis Hospice has stores at 63 4th Avenue, Newton Park and 20 Du Plessis Street in Humansdorp where unwanted clothing, furniture and utensils are welcomed for sale.
Another way to support them is to become a Hospice Hero. For info go to www.hospice-pe.co.za or facebook.com/hospice-pe.
