In honour of Menstrual Hygiene Day, Woodlands Dairy has once again demonstrated its deep commitment to community upliftment by donating sanitary products to schools across South Africa.
This initiative aims to emphasise the company’s belief in the importance of education, gender equality, and the dignity of every young girl.
Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed globally on May 28, highlights the critical need for access to sanitary products and education about menstruation.
For many young girls, especially in underserved communities, the lack of access to sanitary products can lead to embarrassment, stigma, and school absenteeism, hindering their academic progress and self-confidence.
To help address this issue, Woodlands Dairy extended support to the following schools in Kouga:
• Makukhanye Primary School in Jeffreys Bay
• Kruisfontein Primary School in Humansdorp
• Sea Vista Primary School in St Francis Bay.
Additional support was also provided to schools in KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, and Gauteng.
This donation provides young learners with the sanitary products they need to manage their periods hygienically and confidently, helping to minimise school absences and reduce the stigma often associated with menstruation.
Mandla Charlie from Woodlands Dairy, said, “We believe that no girl should have to miss school because of her period.”
“By providing these essential items, we’re not only promoting health and hygiene, but also helping girls stay focused on their education and dreams.”
Woodlands Dairy’s commitment goes beyond dairy production.
Through initiatives like this, the company actively contributes to the well-being and empowerment of the communities it serves.
These efforts reflect a broader vision: to build a society where every child, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities to thrive.
By supporting menstrual hygiene, Woodlands Dairy is investing in the future of young women, fostering dignity, self-esteem, and long-term educational success.
Their support serves as a reminder of how businesses can play a meaningful role in addressing social issues and shaping a more inclusive and empowered future for all.
