A wave of colour, creativity, and community spirit has rolled into Fountains Mall as 20 uniquely designed trolleys, built by the learners of Global Leadership Academy (GLA), are on public display.
Principal Stefan Kleyn said that the GLA Trolley Race, a celebrated fixture on the Kouga calendar, is far more than just a race.
He said that it is a vibrant showcase of innovation, leadership, marketing, and technical skills, providing learners with the unique opportunity to transform a basic idea into a fully functional, visually striking racing machine that proudly endorses a local Kouga business.
“At Global Leadership Academy, we are always asking ourselves, how we can use every opportunity to make disciples and shape leaders. The GLA Trolley Race is one of those key initiatives where education, leadership, creativity, and community involvement come together in a powerful way,” said Kleyn.
Beyond the fun and excitement of race day, the project teaches essential real-world skills.
Kleyn said that learners think like marketers, engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs — understanding brand identity, teamwork, creative problem-solving, and practical execution.
He said that it is an outstanding learning platform that equips future leaders to think differently, work collaboratively, and innovate boldly.
Each trolley is proudly sponsored by a local business and partnered with a GLA register class.

Kleyn said that the GLA Trolley Race is more than a fundraiser — it is an experience that merges education, leadership development, local business support, and great family entertainment.
He said that over the years, it has evolved into a unique, proudly local event that showcases the best of what the Kouga community can achieve together.
