SPECIAL extension will be granted to all road-users whose driving licences or vehicle permits are set to expire during the nationwide Covid-19 lockdown.
Kouga Community Services Portfolio Councillor, Daniel Benson, said that the national Department of Transport had announced that all learner’s licences, driver’s licences, motor vehicle disks, temporary permits and roadworthy certificates would be deemed valid and extended for a further grace period of 30 days from the last day of the lockdown period, unless determined otherwise by the Minister.
The grace period was published in the Government Gazette of March 30, 2020.
“This effectively means that once the lockdown period is over, the public will have 30 days in which to renew their expired licences or permits, during which time their licences will remain valid,” Benson said.
