THREE local optometrists, in collaboration with the EC Department of Health, will provide vision screenings at the Humansdorp Provincial Hospital from 08:00 on Thursday, October 10 – World Sight Day.
In accordance with the theme, Vision First, of Eye Care Awareness Month – September 18 to October 21 – emphasis will be placed on the importance of prioritising eye health by having regular examinations with the intent of early detection of pathology and correction of refraction related vision disorders.
In addition, eye examinations will be conducted for those patients requiring further investigation as a result of the initial screenings and referrals will be made for those that require further care.
Free spectacles will be provided where applicable.
Patients must bring their Sassa card, ID, and proof of income as certain services provided will be according to a patient’s income.
