This was the school’s first time entering the competition, and the team impressed judges and spectators alike by winning the highly respected Champion’s Award.

This award is given to the team that best represents the values of the competition, while also showing excellence in robot performance, robot design and their innovation project.

What makes their achievement even more remarkable is that the Circuit Breakers competed using only the base model of the LEGO robot kit, while many of the other teams used advanced builds and experience behind them. Despite this, the learners showed exceptional teamwork, problem-solving and creativity — proving that determination and strong thinking can outshine technology alone.

Thanks to their success, the Circuit Breakers have now qualified for the FIRST LEGO League South Africa National Championship, which will take place in the Western Cape on 5 and 6 December 2025.

The team will proudly represent both Paul Sauer High School and the wider local community as they prepare for the next stage of the competition.
