A total of 10 new vehicles costing more than R7 million were delivered to Kouga Municipality between February and April this year – improving service delivery even more across the region.

The vehicles consist of five four-wheel drive tractors and two backhoe loaders, as well as a single-drum roller, a bulldozer and a grader.

This brings the procurement of new vehicles since August 2016 to a whopping total of 76.

A R6.1 million landfill refuse compactor will, furthermore, be added to the top-class fleet within the next couple of weeks, while 26 different types of new trucks will replace the current redundant fleet.

Kouga Executive Mayor, Horatio Hendricks, said the new vehicles were a major investment for the municipality.

“It is not merely about increasing our fleet, but it is also improving service delivery for all residents across the region,” he said.

According to Hendricks, the vehicles will mainly be used for maintenance and construction work, as well as for grass cutting, the fixing of potholes and grading of gravel roads.

“With the latest addition to the fleet, we do indeed have some of the best equipment and vehicles,” said Hendricks.
