MORE than 50 dedicated Kouga Municipality employees have recently been honoured for their remarkable combined 715 years of unwavering service to the municipality – helping to take the institution from strength to strength.
Employees, boasting between 10 to 35 years of service each, were recognised for their hard work at a special function organised by the corporate services directorate on Friday, April 30.
Three retirement trophies were also issued on the day.
This follows after the quarterly awards ceremony for 2020 had to be postponed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resultant lockdown.
Apart from long–standing employees, the auspicious event was attended by Kouga speaker, Hattingh Bornman, corporate services portfolio councillor, Timothy Jantjies, corporate services director, Kirshen Moodley, and human resource management manager, Dawie de Jager.
Bornman, said, “I am humbled that we were able to recognise and honour these long-serving employees. Their loyalty and dedication is truly inspiring.
“Over the years, politicians came and went, municipal managers took up duty and left, but they remained dedicated to the municipality for a combined 715 years – this says something remarkable about them.”
Jantjies added, “The past two years have been particularly challenging for everyone.
“It is vital that we continue to recognise the commitment that employees have shown to the municipality, and more important, to service delivery for all residents,” Jantjies added.
