Police have launched a manhunt for a 42-year-old man from the Ngobozana Administrative Area in the Eastern Cape, who allegedly shot and killed his wife (49) and ex-girlfriend (22) in the early hours of Tuesday, 5 August.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana said officers are investigating two murder cases following the incident.
According to Gantana, the suspect allegedly carried out the killings between 01:00 and 01:30. Reports indicate that he first shot his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend at a tavern in the Chithwayo locality, before proceeding to his home in Unity Park, Ngobozana, where he allegedly shot his 49-year-old wife while she was asleep.
“The suspect then fled the scene in the family’s vehicle, which was later discovered abandoned by police,” Gantana said.
The motive for the killings remains unknown at this stage.
