KOUGA Executive Mayor, Horatio Hendricks, has conveyed his best wishes to all matriculants writing their final examinations.

He said that the final matric exams were both an exciting and nerve-wracking time for young people as they entered the home stretch of their secondary school careers.

“This is even more so than usual for the Matric Class of 2020, who have had to prepare for their final exams amidst the biggest health crisis the world has seen in over a century.

“While the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over, life has been continuing, and their destiny awaits.

“The fact that they are writing the exams despite 2020’s extreme challenges is testimony to the power of the human spirit – a spirit which resides in each one of our matriculants and will help carry them across the finish line.”

He urged matriculants to stay focused.

“The finish line is in sight. You have been preparing for this moment for the past 12 years.

“Do not allow anything to derail you now that you are so close to completing the marathon.

“Stay calm and keep going, with your sight firmly fixed on your goal.”

He further encouraged all parents, caregivers and the broader community to support matriculants during this critical time in their school careers.

“Together, we can help to ensure that, despite all the trials and tribulations of the past six months, the Matric Class of 2020 emerges victorious.

“Let us keep these young people in our hearts and in our prayers, so that they reach the finish line with their heads held high.”
