TACKLE an obstacle course with your four-legged friend, dance to the sound of local artists, conquer a bike challenge, enjoy locally-made products and swoop through the air – all at the Melk Fees.

The well-known Milkwood Market in Jeffreys Bay will hold their first Melk Fees on Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1, in celebration of their second birthday.

Local artists – Jim and Jane, Mello and Jive, Michelle, Kobus and Karla, and the Wandering Watsons – will take to the festival stage, while Paw Patrol and a ‘poppekas’ show will keep the children entertained.

Visitors to the festival can fill their baskets to the brim with delicious food and treats and enjoy a relaxed picnic under the big Yellowwood trees at the dam.

Enjoy all the strawberry products, milkshakes, cocktails, ‘melkkos’, ice cream and amarula milktart for sale.

There will also be various arts and craft stalls, as well as fresh vegetables and flowers.

Also on the festival menu is a family bike challenge, a K9 skills challenge and thrill zone.

Bike Challenge

The 5.5km GLA Family Bike Challenge will leave the starting blocks at the Global Leadership Academy (GLA) sports ground at 08:00 on Saturday, November 30, from where it will follow the Park Run route.

Each kilometre will be marked with a challenge: including three-leg-jump and dive-for-apples.

There will also be a Kiddies Dash for children under eight years and a Baby Dash for participants under five years at the GLA rugby field.

The entry fee is R150 per team (up to four riders) – entrants must be eight years or older – while the entry fee for the Kiddies Dash and Baby Dash is R60.

Entry forms are available at Global Leadership Academy, Victory Christian School and East Coast Cycles.

Obstacles include jump through a loop, throw and fetch, balance the bar, roll the ball, tussle between cones, jump the bar, crawl or run under the bars and shake hands.

To enter at a cost of R50 per dog, contact 083 320 4173.

All dogs must be on a lead.

Thrill Zone

Gypsy Events is set to host a heart-racing and gravity-defying outdoor adventure thrill zone at the festival from 08:00 to 20:00 on Saturday, November 30, and from 10:00 15:00 on Sunday, December 1.

The flying trapeze offers fun for the whole family: whether you are three years old, or 103.

Other activities at the Adventure Thrill Zone include bungy bounce, a giant wave slide, a mechanical surf board and various inflatables.

And more . . .

Apart from adrenaline-packed action, festival-goers can visit the cheese and wine tent where they can enjoy a wide variety of cheese from Tsitsikamma Gourmet Cheese: Boerenkaas, TsitsiJack, PepperJack, cumin, garlic and onion and chilli.
