MOLLY Wilson, a Grade 11 learner from Global Leadership Academy, has excelled in show-jumping.

She recently competed in two shows and won the junior 1m championship at the First for Horses Reonet National Show on her horse, Kilshane Oola.

This past weekend, she was placed fourth overall on Kilshane Oola, and first in the juniors in the 1m championships at the PERC spring show.

On her pony, Beachcomber Laheeb, she was placed third in the 80cm First for Horses Reonet Championships and last weekend at the PERC spring show, she was again placed third in the 80cm championships.

Wilson currently holds fifth place in the Eastern Cape in 1m and is placed 16th in South Africa.

According to her trainer, Wilson is at the stables at least five days a week, having lessons, schooling and exercising her horses. When she is not at a show-jumping competition, she is at a training show or at the stables.

The time and dedication, as well as the mental stamina needed for this sport, are intense, and in these trying times show great dedication.

Wilson’s proud trainer, Tracy Kennedy of Homestead Equestrian Estate in St Francis Bay, said, “Molly shows great sportsmanship, supporting and encouraging her team mates and even her competitors. She is kind and friendly and such a lady, even under enormous amounts of pressure.”
