A TOTAL of 63 new police vehicles were recently handed over to the various Cluster Commanders in the Eastern Cape.
This is to ensure that police officials adhere to uncompromising compliance with the fundamental principle of policing. The new vehicles include 57 4×4 Nissan Hi-Riders and six VW Golf 2.0, GTI’s.
Police Spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni, said the South African Police Service (SAPS) Management in the Eastern Cape handed over the vehicles in an effort to replenish the SAPS fleet.
“The vehicles will aid in realising SAPS’ mission to enhance police visibility, including thorough and responsive investigations of every crime that may threaten the safety or security of communities,” Tonjeni said.
The allocation of vehicles per Cluster is as follows: Alice – two, Aliwal North – six, Butterworth – one, Cofimvaba – one, Cradock – one, East London – four, Elliot – three, Graaff-Reinet – four, Grahamstown – three, Humansdorp – four, ing William’s Town – se-ven, Mdantsane – two, Motherwell – one, Mount Ayliff – one, Mount Fletcher – four, Mthatha – five, Port Alfred – three, Port St Johns – one, Queenstown – nine and Uitenhage – one.
