ECHO Elektries in Jeffreys Bay has a new home – in a newly-constructed building situated opposite their old store in Blaaukrans Street.

The long-awaited move to their new and improved premises, coinciding with their tenth birthday in Jeffreys Bay, is set to cater for the growing demand in the local and national electrical industry – targeting multiple areas from DIY, home renovations, new buildings, farms, packaging houses, schools and municipalities, as well as the domestic and industrial market.

Humble beginnings

Kobie, a former electro-mechanical superintendent at the Bronkhorstspruit City Council where he worked for ten years, first opened Echo Elektries in Bronkhorstspruit in 1993.

Soon they had to expand their fast-growing business – not once, but three times – and open a second branch in the region. After 15 successful years in Bronkhorstspruit, the Du Plooy-family relocated to Jeffreys Bay to open Echo Elektries in Da Gama Road, Jeffreys Bay – filling a gap in the electrical industry.

In 2013 the family business (consisting of husband-and-wife duo, their daughter, Melindi Kleygeld, and her husband, Johan, as well as the Du Plooy’s son, Jacques) moved to Blaaukrans Street, before opening its doors at their brand-new building at the end of last month.

“We would never have dreamed that our heavenly Father would be so good to us,” says Annamarie.

“The ten years of doing business in Jeffreys Bay, have exceeded our greatest expectations and joy: our own electrical shop and showroom.

“It all happened so fast.”

The team

According to Annamarie, the professional and motivated team at Echo Elektries consists of highly-trained and qualified technical consultants and project expediters who provides the industry with specialist lighting designs, as well as efficient and innovative lighting solutions with the most current technologies available.

Their vast range of electrical products includes light fittings, plugs and light switches, cape and cable accessories, circuit breakers and distribution boards, contactors, overloads, white appliance spares, as well as replacement lamps and switches for commercial, industrial and domestic use.

“As part of our service, we strive to source any customised and special products in the electrical field, with the best pricing possible,” says Annamarie.

Still going strong

According to her, Echo Elektries would not have been such a huge success without the hard work of their dedicated employees, loyal and new customers and the never-ending grace of God.

The Echo Elektries team invites all residents and visitors to visit them at their new home in Blaaukrans Street, Jeffreys Bay.
