UNITED Front’s Aaron Mhlontlo said Mvana’s success as the leader of the municipality depended on the councillors and he needed to listen to them.
“Your success and failure rest on these councillors as your advisors and extension. If you fail to listen to them because of political affiliations, you will be a disappointment to the people of Enoch Mgijima like others were,” he said.
The DA’s Malibongwe Xhelisilo told Mvana that residents did not care who their mayor was, all they wanted was service delivery.
“You have been appointed as the mayor and I’d like to congratulate you on your appointment, even though it’s going to be short lived.
“But while you are there, please serve ratepayers with dignity and make sure that the municipality renders the services ratepayers deserve. If you fail to do so you’ll be thrown out the window like everyone else who has been in that seat,” said Xhelisilo.
Most speakers told Mvana to prioritise infrastructure, including roads.
