SUN . . . sea . . . St Francis Sport Summer Series . . .
The 12th annual St Francis Sport Summer Series, hosted by St Francis Sport, is set to kick off on December 17 – sporting nine events.
Kicking off the sporting activities on December 17, is the Canal Swim at Quaysyde in Sea Glades Drive, St Francis Bay. Under 12-swimmers can prove their mettle in the bank-to-bank swim, while older swimmers can tackle the 500m, 1km,2km and 3km swim.
On December 18, the action will move to Cape St Francis Resort for the annual 5km and 10km Road Run.
Trail runners can enjoy the beauty of the Eskom Conservation Reserve on December 19 as they tackle the 5km or 15km trail run. Registration will take place at Duneridge Country House.
The duathlon, consisting of a swim and road run, will take place at Sea Glades Drive on December 20. Participants can compete individually or as a team and can either conquer the 500m swim and 3km run category or the 1km swim and 6km run category.
On December 21 the action moves to the St Francis Field for the Extreme Duathlon. Do not underestimate the 5km trail run and 15km mountain bike ride, as the conditions are rough.
The 5km New Moon Walk/ Run in aid of the Beach Clean-Up Fund will kick off at the Cape St Francis Main Beach parking area at 19:00 for 19:30 on December 22.
Head lamps are compulsory.
On December 27, there will be a 3km open water swim at Granny’s Pool in Harbour Road, St Francis Bay. Pre-re-gistration only.
The Dorma MTB Challenge will take place at the Eskom Conservation Reserve on December 30. Cyclists will tackle a 15km or 30km ride. Registration will take place at Duneridge Country House.
On December 31 the popular Pam Golding Properties Quadrathlon will take place from Sea Glades Drive. Teams or individuals will take on a 12km cycle through St Francis Links, a 300m canal swim, a 3km run and finish with a 3km paddle.
Registration
All the events, apart from the New Moon Walk, start at 08:00.
Registration for the various events can be done 60 minutes before the specific event kicks off. Race briefing will take place 15 minutes before the start of the event.
The entry fee for all the events is R100 for adults and R60 for children under 14. Entry forms are available at St Francis Tourism and Custom Bikes.
