A colourful stroke here . . . and a dash of paint there – all for a good cause and memories that will last a lifetime.
Do you want to create an original work of art of your beloved fur-baby? Or even your scaly or feathery friend?
Then support the fun SPCA Assisi Art for Charity fundraiser.
For a donation of only R300 towards the animals at the organisation, an artist will draw your pet for you.
The catch? They are a whole lot better at caring for animals than they are at drawing them.
“We have an amateur artist standing by, eager to turn you pet into a permanent work of art,” says SPCA Assisi Spokesperson, Natassja Barnard. “Or at least make you laugh.”
How does it work?
It is simple: send your favourite photo of your pet, together with the proof of payment, to media@spcaassisi.co.za.
Then wait . . . but not for toAo long.
Pet-lovers will be provided with a copy of their drawing via email. Once the lockdown period has come to an end, hard copies can be collected at the SPCA Assisi Charity Shop in Jeffreys Street, Jeffreys Bay.
“Once you receive your drawing, share it on Facebook and tag the SPCA Assisi – #pimpyourpet,” says Barnard.
All proceeds raised will go to the SPCA Assisi.
According to Barnard, the SPCA Assisi – an independent organisation that receives no funds from the State – looks after and takes care of thousands of animals a year.
They rely mainly on donations from the public and the income generated from their second-hand charity shop, currently closed due to the lockdown, to cover their monthly management cost of approximately R110 000. This includes the salaries of ten staff members, veterinarian costs, petrol, rent, medication, clinic accessories, general repairs, detergents, insurance, telephone costs and vehicle costs.
How to help – even more
Monetary donations – big or small – are welcome.
“The biggest need is a monthly support system with a debit order of R50 or more,” she says. “This will enable us to cover all our expenses on a monthly basis.”
Apart from financial support, much-needed items include items to sell at the charity shop, linen, kitchenware, clothes, tools, detergents, chlorine, washing powder and pine gel. Residents can furthermore assist by sharing their requests on social media.
