Race ushers in the new year

THE annual First Choice Race, in partnership with Jeffreys Bay Striders, kicked off the athletics calendar for 2020 on January 4 when runners participated in the 15km, 6km and 600mMilki Moo Dash.


THE annual First Choice Race, in partnership with Jeffreys Bay Striders, kicked off the athletics calendar for 2020 on January 4 when runners participated in the 15km, 6km and 600mMilki Moo Dash.

The 19th annual race was held at the Victory Christian School in the scenic town of Jeffreys Bay and is registered with Eastern Province Athletics.

For the first time electronic timing was used at the race and MobiiElite with immediate results to athletes in the 15km race.

The winners of the male and female 15km categories are Melikhaya Frans and Tyler Beling respectively.

The first-runner up in the male catergory is Andile Motwana, followed by Adriaan Gerwel.

The second woman to cross the finish line in the 15km category is Ntombesintu Mfunzi, followed by Nwabisi Mjoli in third place.
