Police in Humansdorp are investigating a serious case of business burglary and theft after 17 firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen from the Kouga Municipality Traffic Department recently.
According to police spokesperson Captain Marius McCarthy, it is alleged that all was in order on April 25 at about 15:00 when the offices closed at the Kouga Municipality Traffic Department in Heugh Street, Humansdorp.
However, he said that it is alleged that on April 29 at about 06:45 it was discovered that the offices were broken into.
“It is suspected that heavy equipment was used to gain entry through the roof of the building,” said McCarthy.
He said that 17 firearms and an undisclosed amount of money were stolen during the burglary.
McCarthy said that the investigation is ongoing.
