Support first Jail & Bail event for a good cause

THE J-Bay Trauma Centre is set to hold a fun Jail & Bail fundraising event at Die Werf at Fountains Mall, Jeffreys Bay on Saturday, May 4.

In the five-week run-up to the event, the organisation will “jail” ten well-known residents – two each week – for the good and positive work they do in the community.

Each week a voice clip of the two selected bailees will be posted on the J-Bay Trauma Centre Facebook Page and played on Oasis FM. The first community member that correctly identifies both voice clips will receive a spot prize.

As the bailees are identified, their “mug shots” will be placed on a poster throughout Jeffreys Bay.

Bailees are required to nominate two persons who will assist the J-Bay Trauma Centre to draw up a charge sheet.

To raise funds, each bailee must then approach friends, family members and supporters for bail money to prevent them from going to jail.

Bailees must furthermore recruit one person that will defend him or her during the “formal” court hearing on May 4.

The event will follow the format of a full court procedure, with a local prosecutor that will lead the proceedings and fulfil the role of a judge.

Bring a picnic basket and blanket and join in the fun on May 4. Tickets cost R25 per person and R50 for a family of four.

Funds raised will go towards paying the rent of the centre’s office space at Neptune Terrace.
