The Mooiuitzicht Treatment Centre celebrates two years of providing successful addiction counselling and alcohol and drug treatment since first opening its doors on April 1, 2017.
Situated at the former Plaaswerf on Route 62 in Kareedouw, the centre has assisted over 120 patients to date – boasting a success rate of between 75% and 80%.
According to founder and head of the centre, George van der Watt, who has a degree in psychology, they aim at providing a holistic rehabilitation programme for those with substance abuse and addiction problems.
“Working closely with local hospitals and doctors, we strive to provide the best personal and affordable in-patient addiction treatment available, by focusing on specific treatment plans in accordance with each individual’s needs, whether these needs are related to drugs, alcohol, over the counter medication, depression or anxiety.
“At Mooiuitzicht we believe in the holistic wellness of all our clients: physiological, psychological, emotional and spiritual.”
The centre boasts a multi-disciplinary team that specialises in the treatment of all drug and alcohol addictions, including gambling, depression and dual-diagnosis (including body dysmorphic such as anorexia and bulimia) – the only clinic in the Eastern Cape to specialise in body dysmorphic.
They furthermore invested in a state-of-the-art bio-feedback and treatment machine that uses low energy electromagnetic frequency to diagnose and treat patients.
Van der Watt believes contributing to Mooiuitzicht’s success is their picturesque and relaxed location – away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The facilities and en-suite rooms are spacious and welcoming.
