THERE are many unsung heroes who’ve been helping to keep Kouga clean without expecting anything in return.
One such hero is 78-year-old Muis van Rensburg of Jeffreys Bay.
“Mr Van Rensburg walks along Da Gama Road every day, picking up litter along the way and then throwing it into the nearest refuse bin,” said Kouga Councillor Willem Gertenbach.
“I’ve often seen him doing it and wanted to thank him for his selfless action.”
Another unsung hero is Marvin Ruiters, who was recently seen picking up litter that had been scattered about by dogs and crows.
“Some holiday-makers put out their refuse bags when they left Jeffreys Bay.
“It was long before the scheduled day for refuse collection and the dogs and crows didn’t waste time ripping open the bags.
“The sidewalk was a mess,” said Ruiters.
Ruiters put the scattered refuse back into the bags and placed them in a safe place for collection day.
Kouga Mayor Horatio Hendricks commended Van Rensburg and Ruiters for going the extra mile for their town.
