PAM Golding and SuperSpar in St Francis Bay appeal to all residents to donate their gently used sports equipment to Sea Vista Primary School.
Whether it is a soccer ball or a wetsuit, or even a tennis racquet, all sports equipment are welcome.
“The important role that sport can play in children’s lives is recognised at the school, but there is no money available for kit and equipment,” says Richard Arderne from Pam Golding. “Hence this appeal.”
The main sports at the school include tennis and athletics for both the boys and girls. Additional sports for the boys include soccer, rugby and cricket. The girls can play sports such as basketball and hockey. Some learners are learning to surf.
The school is home to 450 learners between the ages of five and thirteen, and only have nine teachers.
“The Sea Vista Educational Fund is currently funding an additional teacher, and also has 16 volunteers assisting with language skills,” says Arderne.
Sports equipment – soccer balls, rugby balls, netball balls, tennis racquets, boots, wetsuits, surfboards and cricket bats – can be dropped off at St Francis Bay SuperSpar or Pam Golding in St Francis Bay before May 31.
