Detectives in Humansdorp are investigating a case of house
robbery and kidnapping after a 49-year-old woman was kidnapped from her home in
Humansdorp on July 31, and forced to withdraw money at an ATM at Mentors Plaza in Jeffreys Bay.

Police spokesperson, Captain Marius McCarthy said it is
alleged that the victim was at home when two unknown men entered her house and demanded
money at gunpoint.

He said that the suspects then searched through the house
and found an undisclosed amount of cash, a television, a cell phone, and a
television box.

“The suspects then tied her hands with cable ties and took
her outside the house where two more suspects were sitting inside a silver Volkswagen Polo. They were wearing masks,” said McCarthy.

He said that she was pushed into the car, and they then drove
off to a bank in Main Street, Humansdorp where they tried to withdraw money
from her bank account.

McCarthy said that the machine was out of order.

“The suspects then drove off with her to Mentors Plaza in
Jeffreys Bay where they withdrew an undisclosed amount of money from her bank
account,” said McCarthy.

He said the suspects then dropped the victim off along the
side of the road not far from Mentors Plaza.

McCarthy further said that when she got home, she reported the
matter.

“No suspects have been arrested, and a police investigation
is underway,” said McCarthy.
