Woodlands Dairy triumphed at the Bloem Show Cheese Awards, the only show in South Africa where a dairy product competition still takes place.

The competition covers 16 categories, including butter, Gouda Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, continental, specialty cheese and exotic cheese and a large variety of milk products, as well as goat milk products. Woodlands won 12 awards for their First Choice products, as well as those of their primary clients, Woolworths and Spar.

The company’s own brand, First Choice, earned awards for its Baby Gouda Cheese, Matured Cheddar, Processed Cheese Spread (Black Pepper), and Chocolate Flavoured Low Fat Milk. Award-winning products produced specifically for Spar and Woolworths include Butter Spread, Feta Cheese with Black Pepper, Custard, UHT Low Fat Milk and UHT Full Cream Milk, Whipping Cream and Pouring Cream, as well as Chocolate Flavoured Low Fat Milk.

“Naturally we’re extremely excited over what has been achieved. These awards acknowledge the hard work that goes into manufacturing high quality products. It’s also testament to the dedication and expertise of the different teams who produce these products every day,” says Marisa Maccaferri, marketing executive for Woodlands Dairy and First Choice.

“What excites me is that we received awards across a broad range of products, which shows the depth we have in the business from a development process and production perspective. It’s a job well done and we’re immensely proud of each award.”

All major dairy and small regional producers entered the competition.

“Winning awards reflects positively on the quality of our products,” said production manager at Woodlands Dairy, Dineo Ncube.

“To win, and turn your dreams into reality, you need to perform to your highest ability,” says Fabian Thomas, operations manager (UHT & ESL Production and Processing) at Woodlands Dairy.

“It’s important to always have a healthy and positive mindset. Excellent quality will encourage and place emphasis on our vision to be the most admired dairy company in Africa, which ultimately ensures long-term growth and creates job opportunities.”
